Malaysia football improving despite Anwar’s sodomy case

Malaysia’s international football standing improved slightly and are now in 166th place out of 199 countries in the latest FIFA’s monthly rankings.

Malaysia were in 169th place last month.

In the latest ranking report released Thursday in FIFA’s website, Spain made a giant leap to top in the world ranking after emerging champions at the Euro 2008 final last weekend.

Malaysia are behind Seychelles (165), Myanmar (164), Mauritius (163), St. Lucia (162), Sri Lanka (161), St. Kitts and Nevis (160), Lesotho (159), Turmenistan (158), Samoa (157), Maldives (156), Vanuatu (155), Tajikstan (154), India (153)and Luxembourg (152).

In the Asian Football Confederation ranking, Malaysia stood at 31 behind Indonesia (21), Singapore (20), Vietnam (19), Hong Kong (18), and Thailand (15).
